Running the Race

Written on 2006 at the Church of Christ at Pines, inspired by the Amazing Grace Race! A city-wide race that went from San Roque, to Lourdes Grotto, to Orchidarium, to the city market, and ended at Camp John Hay. Bro. Eugelex Posadas delivered a message.

Verse 1:
As I rise again
And breathe the sunshine in
I'm getting ready
For the race of my life
The problems that I face
Will never slow my pace
["Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us..." - Hebrews 12:1]
As I raise my hands
Into the light

Refrain:
You're there to see me through
You're there to guide my way
Lord, I'll never fail you
["Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5]

Chorus:
I'm running the race
And I can't let go
Of the prize from my eyes
It's all I know
Oh God, You are my only
(Repeat)
[I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:14]

Verse 2:
As I run
through life
All cares are set aside
I will run until I reach that line
All my friends in life
I will shine them with Your light
I will take them runnin'
To Your light
["I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile." - Romans 1:16]

Refrain:
You're there to see us through
You're there to guide our way
Lord, we'll never fail you

(Chorus)
